Tainted Chinese Dairy Products

September 25th, 2008

The tainted chinese dairy products scandal is getting serious. Two of my favorite snacks contain unacceptable levels of the chemical melamine: White Rabbit Creamy Candies and Koala’s March from Lotte. In China, melamine-tainted milk has killed four babies and sickened nearly 53,000 (source: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/09/25/white-rock-candy.html).

Man.. I grew up with these snacks… maybe I should have a body checkup too.

Apartment rental ads are stupid

August 5th, 2008

Why must people keep insisting to post rental ads without any pictures? It’s like posting a personal ad like “I have 1 face, 2 eyes, 1 nose, and 1 mouth, marry me plz k thx”….

Purolator is great

August 5th, 2008

Just called Purolator to track my Macbook Pro. The operator picked up the phone in just 1 ring! But he sounded like he was working in a basement or something. I could hear echo and some fizzling sound from his microphone lol. Oh and my MBP will arrive tomorrow morning :P

Finally, I have a blog…

July 31st, 2008

DessertMonster finally have a blog! Nowadays almost everyone has a blog. It is hard to imagine that as a web designer with almost 8 years of experience, I have not started my own blog until today.

I think part of the reasons for not having a blog for so long is my fear. I fear that I will have nothing to write about. I fear that no one will visit my blog. I fear that I will fail. Then I was introduced to Twitter and Posterous after I joined the family of Spheric Technologies. I started to post little bits and pieces of my life - interesting web design tools or sites that I found, what I am doing, reading, or learning, or just how I feel at this very moment. Then I realized that it is not that difficult. After all, social media is all about sharing - our thoughts, experience, feeling, and ideas. If I have something to share, then what’s the fear?

As Chris Brogan said in his post “Conquering Fear of Blogging”, with millions and millions of blogs out there competing for eyeballs, it is a lot less climactic than you think.

There is still a lot of work to be done like creating theme and new categories. But I think this is really a good start. And I hope I can blog my way to a better designer and a better person in general.
